Leopard 48

Boating industry journalists test our boats and write about them frequently. Their reviews provide critical third party assessments of our models, and each journalist invests exceptional technical knowledge and industry experience into every analysis. But we're especially happy when our owners review their boats. For our owners, the pride in their boats comes out in their statements. So does their excitement as they log their first--or first 1,000--miles. A handful of Leopard owners shared their stories recently.

Leopard 48 DALA in the Azores

Albert Levy, his first mate, Joelle, and expert crew Richard, arrived in Horta on Sunday after just 11.5 days crossing from Bermuda to the Azores. They finished the 1800 NM passage nearly 24 hours before the next boat.

Albert and Joelle are celebrating two firsts: a first place finish and a first ocean crossing. "We are very happy and have some difficulty in realizing that we did it!" says Albert.

Moorings Owner Flotilla

Earlier this month, 14 Moorings yacht owners got together in what most call their home away from home, the BVI, for the 2015 Moorings Owner Flotilla. As Owner Reservations Specialist John Keyes put it, "the Moorings Owners 'took over' the BVI." The large group enjoyed 7 days of fun at their favorite BVI anchorages, beaches and restaurants, as well as catching up with friends, sharing sailing stories, and competing in friendly yet spirited paddleboard and yacht races.

Here's an overview of the week's events:

Leopard 48 Widago Crew

For Guyon and Ali Moseley, who bought a Leopard 48 and expect to spend two years living aboard and circumnavigating with their three middle school aged boys (pictured here with additional family crew for their Tortola to Bermuda passage), the planning for their extended cruising aboard WIDAGO began about 4 years ago. This week, their adventure more formally began as they left Tortola for Bermuda - Azores - England with the ARC Europe rally. How does a family plan for such an unconventional experience, especially with three kids?

Leopard 48 Dala at Nanny Cay

Two Leopard 48s are set to depart Nanny Cay, Tortola mid-day tomorrow with the World Cruising Club's ARC Europe Rally. The next stop for Albert Levy's DALA and Guyon and Ali Moseley's WIDAGO will be Bermuda, 850 NM away. After that, they'll be underway until they reach the Azores. Ultimately, DALA will finish the rally in Portugal, WIDAGO in England.

For cruisers who haven't crossed an ocean before, or simply enjoy the support that comes from planning and making passages alongside others, the ARC rallies are a terrific way to travel.

Leopard 48 Delivery

Leopard Catamarans European Sales Manager Arnaud Sauvignat took a month-long busman's holiday this winter to get to know his product even better. And to experience crossing an ocean. He joined a delivery crew on a Leopard 48 / Moorings 4800 from Cape Town, South Africa to Santos, Brazil.
